DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://semtechbizsf2012.semanticweb.com/sessionPop.cfm?confid=65&proposalid=4646\nSpecification and Standards used in industry and government are typically disseminated in PDF or hard-copy format. As a result, finding specific information within a collection of these documents can be difficult. In addition, a given task often requires information from several standards documents. While these documents are heavily cross-referenced, there is generally no electronic link between them. Standards documents typically include, among other information, dimensional and material specifications, testing procedures, and part number logic, as well as the previously mentioned cross references to other standards documents. At XSB, we are developing a detailed semantic framework for describing the contents of these documents along with ontology-directed information extraction software. This will enable the conversion of PDF-based Standards documents into an ontology-based digital model, which will then in effect allow the construction of a semantic web of standards. In this talk, we will discuss:\n?	Software for the extraction of structured information from semi-structured PDF documents.\n?	The ontology used to describe the standards documents.\n?	Examples of digital models for government standards.
