The ability to query that information successfully and utilize it to build reports (for both internal use and external government agencies) is of utmost importance to their continued success.  Making this data available quickly to decision makers requires large-scale data integration. This talk will highlight some of the methodological and implementational considerations for building a semantically-driven cloud-based environment for improved data integration across a large healthcare enterprise.  The speakers will discuss the challenges and successes associated with the project, as well as provide lessons learned in terms of identified ROI from this approach.\n? 10 Disparate Data Sources, plus Excel sheets had to be seamlessly integrated into a semantic-based cloud environment.\n? Advanced logic had to be encoded inside the ontology and reasoning system\n? The project has reduced the time to create and deliver key information (e.g., regulatory and other reports) from 5-6 weeks down to seconds (run times are between 12-40 seconds).\n? Due to the initial investment in semantic technologies, our client is now able to rapidly expand upon the infrastructure and assimilate new data sources in a fraction of the time.\n? Upper management is now able to see real returns from their scientists and engineering groups and this success is being driven up to the corporate senior VP and board of director levels.
