DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://semtechbizsf2012.semanticweb.com/sessionPop.cfm?confid=65&proposalid=4697\nWeb applications are increasingly moving from a "data silo" model towards a more open and connected approach, leveraging the existing schemas and Linked Data available on the Web to generate semantically enriched content. With RDFa built in its core, Drupal 7 is the first mainstream Open Source Content Management System to offer semantic capabilities out of the box. Drupal has already been adopted by more than 500,000 sites ranging from community portals to social networking sites and e-commerce applications. \nThis tutorial will demonstrate with real world examples what is possible to achieve with Drupal 7 and the modules which have been developed to extend its core features. Attendees will learn how Drupal plays with technologies such as schema.org, RDF, SPARQL. This tutorial will follow this outline:\n- How to get started with Drupal 7\n- Built-in RDF capabilities in Drupal 7 core and their limits\n- How to improve the display of search results with schema.org\n- How to extend Drupal core with additional modules: RDF Extensions, SPARQL, SPARQL Views\n- Using the web as a database with SPARQL\nWe will use the Domeo annotation tool as a featured use case to demonstrate how decentralized Linked Data can be shared and integrated into the Drupal environment. Domeo enables annotation sharing with individual colleagues, selected groups, or at web scale. Applications such as Drupal can access and display the annotations created through Domeo, and share their own annotations with Domeo using the Annotation Ontology and RDF.
