DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://semtechbizsf2012.semanticweb.com/sessionPop.cfm?confid=65&proposalid=4829\nWe built a reasoning system modeled on mammal vision: like the layers of the vision system, it is hierarchical, bidirectional, parallel, and incremental. Reasoning agents live at the levels of primitives, intermediate, and articulated concepts, and new evidence is incrementally built up by multiple interacting, mutually-influential agents into coherent pictures. We are applying this reasoning system to two conjoined ontologies, one for the science and technical specifics of the nuclear fuel cycle, particularly as it applies to nonproliferation, and the second for "translating" the science to make it useful to non-scientist analysts. The reasoning system is domain-independent, and has been tested in technical areas. The current work is testing it "end-to-end," with non-technical users who bring real-world analytic expectations to their testing.
